An award-winning village local in the heart of unspoilt South Downs National Park countryside renowned for its outstanding atmosphere, great food, well-kept ales, long and varied wine list and charming staff. Beautifully-maintained, spacious and light, featuring an atmospheric heated ski lodge marquee and with vast gardens and terraces, this is a pub for all seasons and all occasions. Host your party or event with us, or simply enjoy an intimate candle-lit meal for two.
Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner – please book to avoid disappointment – family and dog** friendly
** Dogs are generally very welcome but please note changes to our policy. You may bring small, social dogs (please no more than two) to your table but you need to notify us in advance and note that we can’t necessarily accommodate all dogs at all times. The dining room is a strictly dog-free zone. Thank you for your understanding.
The Lunchtime Lottery
From Monday 12th February we will be starting a new promotion called ‘The Lunchtime Lottery’ whereby one lucky table each day receives their food for free. To be in the draw you need to have booked, be part of a table of 1-6 guests and ordered by 1.30pm. The draw will be made at 1.30pm each day (Monday-Friday) and we will request a photo of the guests enjoying ‘their win’ for social media. T’s & C’s are no dishes of £24 or more will be included and the promotion won’t run on Bank Holidays.
Drinks are excluded from the offer and we hope you’ll pay the service charge as if the food wasn’t free (so that our staff are still rewarded).
Booking a Table
Book a table here for up to 13 guests or by phone or contact form (below) for enquiries of 14 or more guests. We have four zones you can book: the pub, the heated Ski Lodge (in winter) or unheated Clubhouse (in summer), front terrace and front garden. Depending on the season any of these zones could be available to book. Simply click Book A Table, select the table size and then select from the list of zones from the drop down menu. You can amend your reservation at any time by clicking amend booking in your confirmation email, or by calling us.
Larger tables of 14+ will be asked to pre-order and/or be offered a bespoke menu or simplified version of the current main menu. We make this really easy for you!
There is no need to make online reservations for drinks. If you anticipate being part of a large drinking group and want to be assured of space then give us a call. Dogs are welcome in all areas except the dining room (from Monday to Saturday).
